I am excited to announce that the Reilly Gardens are now open! This is an achievement of our community in conjunction with AISD and PARD. On May 26th we gathered in the space (unfortunately, due to COVID we were not able to invite everyone) to celebrate the completion of the project.

In 2019 Alyson Beaton (park adopter), Kate Catterall (UT Austin), and Kerriann Duffy (Reilly Elementary Teacher) wrote a grant for the St Davids Foundation Parks With a Purpose program and were awarded the funds to design and implement the project.

The Reilly Gardens are designed as a respite from modern life with environmental as well as human restoration in mind. The concept behind the design is one of social, emotional learning, where the Highland community and Reilly kids can come together to collectively nurture these native gardens. The project was funded in large part by a $130,000 St. David’s Foundation, Parks with a Purpose grant.

Guests are invited to meander through them and find a peaceful respite from daily life. Our urban gardens are intergenerational and designed to bring the community together through maintenance and events. The space is for everyone to enjoy!

If you are interested in being a part of the future of this project please email us at reillygardens@highlandneighborhood.org
