Don't Miss It's My Park Day: Highland! (Plus Local Schools News!)

Hello, Highland neighbors!

Lots going on in the neighborhood right now, so we’ll jump on in:

🏞️ It’s My Park Day: Saturday, November 1

You’re cordially invited to join the Highland Neighborhood Associationthis Saturday, November 1 for a potluck breakfast to kick off the Fall edition of It’s My Park Day at our beautifully revamped Highland Neighborhood Park.

From our new neighborhood bridge to our gorgeous shadowbox art and expansive playground, there’s so much to celebrate at Highland Park. From 9am-12pm, we’ll work together on park beautification—all ages are invited to volunteer and participate. 🙏🏼 Shout out to HNA Sector VP Kate Garza and the HNA Parks Committee for organizing our local event! 🙏🏼

📚 Local Schools News

Local parents and community members from Highland, North Loop, Hyde Park, and Skyview have been working together to advocate for strong neighborhood schools as AISD develops new consolidation plans that will affect many of our local families. To learn more, check out the Reimagine Reilly Petition page. To stay up-to-date on progress regarding the AISD consolidation and how it’ll affect Highland families, be sure to sign up for the HNA newsletter (and tell your neighbors!) and plan to attend the next HNA meeting on December 8.

🗳️ Board Elections

We’ll also be hosting HNA board elections at our December meeting—I’m stepping down as president and we’re looking for an HNA Board Secretary as well as an HNA Communications Director. Please reach out to boardmembers@highlandneighborhood.org if you’re interested in running for a position, or have questions about what Board service entails.

See y’all at Highland Neighborhood Park on Saturday!

Cheers,
Andrea Grimes
HNA Board President
